Day 1: Arrive San Jose, Costa Rica Transfer to your selected hotel.
Day 2: San Jose/Turrialba Morning departure via private van with guide for a full day of sightseeing, visiting the village of Cartago, Irazu Volcano,and Lankester Gardens, and stopping for lunch in the beautiful Orosi Valley. Transfer to Casa Turire outside of Turrialba, a unique 17-room plantation house. (B, L)
Day 3: Full-Day River Rafting Morning pick up at the hotel for a full day of rafting on the Reventazon River (Class III*). Overnight Casa Turire. (B, L)
Day 4: Turrialba/Tortuguero Morning departure via hotel van toward the Caribbean coast to the Mawamba pier at Matina. Then boat trip along the canals of Tortuguero, through densely vegetated areas in search of alligators, monkeys and birds. Arrival at Mawamba Lodge in time for lunch. Afterwards, relax around the unique swimming pool-bar surrounded by beautiful gardens, where you can enjoy tropical cocktails. (B, L, D)
Day 5: Tortuguero All day at Tortuguero, including nature tours or optional fishing expeditions. During nesting season (JUL-OCT), you can go to observe the sea turtles laying eggs on the beach by night or see newly-hatched baby turtles scrambling toward the sea. (B, L, D)
Day 6: Tortuguero/Arenal Transfer by boat back to Matina Pier, where you board the Mawamba bus to San Jose.Before arriving in San Jose you will be dropped off at the town of Guapiles, where your van and driver will be waiting to transfer you to Arenal. The two-hour transfer takes you through the beautiful San Carlos Valley. Overnight at your selected hotel. (B, L)
Day 7: Arenal Day at leisure for optional tours. (B)
Day 8: Arenal/Monteverde Morning departure for a two-hour transfer to Monteverde via boat crossing Lake Arenal and then taxi ride to Monteverde. Accommodations in selected hotel. (B)
Day 9: Monteverde Morning hike through Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, viewing the misty forest with its dense vegetation. Visit the Hummingbird Gallery and Cheese Factory. Afternoon at leisure for optional tours. (B)
Day 10: Monteverde/Tamarindo Morning departure via shuttle service for a six-hour transfer to Tamarindo Beach in Guanacaste Province on the Pacific. Accommodations in selected hotel. (B)
Days 11 & 12: Tamarindo Leisure days for optional tours. (B Daily)
Day 13: Depart Tamarindo Transfer to the Liberia Airport. (B)
Note: You can substitute mid-Pacific or Manuel Antonio hotels for Tamarindo and rates are quoted below.
