Estancia de Larache is a two-and-a-half-hour flight from Santiago
to Calama, then a one-hour van ride to the hotel. It lies thirty
kilometers (18.6 miles) from San Pedro de Atacama, at an altitude
of 3,100 meters (10,170 feet), on 18,500 acres. The Hotel de Larache's
centerpiece is the 'Termas de Puritama' with numerous hot springs
emanating, where guests can bathe under the blue skies or the night
stars of the Atacama Desert. The tapestries, wicker and furnishings
of the hotel were made by local artisans, to maintain the Atacama
flavor and traditions. Built in the Ayllu (neighborhood) de Larache
in San Pedro de Atacama, the hotel develops along a main building
and three patios. Rooms are lined up with corridors opening upon
a patio. Corridors meet in the main building, crossed by two ample
passages: the Pasaje de la Luz and the Pasaje del Agua. More than
a home, the hotel is an experience, an open balcony towards surrounding
beauty. Hotel amenities: Dining room serving exceptional cuisine,
bar, room service, gift shop/art gallery featuring local Atacama
Indian artcrafts, game room with video and DVD, laundry services,
library, quiet sitting areas, outdoor verandas and patios, four
connected outdoor swimming pools, baby-sitting services, sauna,
massage services, private stables, and meeting room. Room amenities:
Marvelous wood and tile accents, fabulous linens, custom-designed
furnishings, spectacular views, international direct-dial telephone,
