This is an entertaining tour for young and old alike. The Frog Pond is an exhibit of over 20 species of frogs and toads endemic to the Monteverde area, all housed in large terrariums resembling their natural habitats, permitting the animals to
live in security and to be able to reproduce. At
the same time, we can enjoy their colorful beauty.
The
Monteverde Frog Pond is run by a team of biologists, naturalist
guides and conservationists, and is much more than a zoo of amphibians.
It provides education and the opportunity to become acquainted with
and change our attitudes about these attractive small animals.
All visitors
are given a tour with a bilingual guide that gives a brief explanation
about the natural history of each species. The tour lasts between
45 minutes and one hour, and the exhibit is open from 9:00 a.m. to
8:30 p.m. After the guided tour, visitors are encouraged to wander
on their own through the exhibitions of frog species and their natural
history.
