Pacuare Lodge
- Pacuare River, Costa Rica
The
Pacuare Lodges eco-friendly bungalows are surrounded by exuberant
tropical foliage, nestled between the river and its own private nature
reserve, which conserves 300 hectares (740 acres) of primary rainforest.
The buildings are made of wood from tree farms and palm thatch collected
in the rainforest by Pacuare's Cabecar Indian neighbors. Each bungalow
combines sustainable practices such as solar-heated water and low-impact
septic systems with comforts such as orthopedic mattresses and spacious
bathrooms.
The Lodge - The Spa - Romance Package & Accommodations River Rafting Itineraries that include Pacuare Lodge
At the Pacuare
Lodge, guests can bird watch, hike, swim, fish, explore the rainforest
canopy, visit a traditional indigenous community, or simply relax. Most
people stay there on 2-day, or 3-day river rafting packages, but one can
also visit the lodge without descending the Pacuare River, which makes
it an option for families with young children and other travelers who
arent up for a white water trip. Though the scenery and nature are
spectacular, guests are equally impressed with the service, comfort, food
and details such as the wine cellar, candlelight dinners and massage therapist.
Many also applaud Pacuare's commitment to conservation, improving life
in nearby communities, and mitigating its environmental impact through
recycling, organic ingredients and reforestation, which allows Pacuare
to offer guests a carbon-neutral vacation.
